Position Available:
Backpocket Brewing is looking for a HEAD BREWER for our new production facility in Coralville, Iowa. The plant features a fully automated Braukon brew house, allowing for maximum control over the beers produced to promote high quality and consistency. Our location is in the heart of a high traffic, mixed use development and will include a large tasting room and beer garden. As a large micro brewery, continuing product development and experimentation is expected. Maximum production is approximately 25,000 bbls annually. The position will report to Jake Simmons, General Manager/Brewer.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Perform brewing functions for Backpocket beers as well as contract brewing for others. Responsibilities include new product development; continuous improvement of existing beers; managing consistency and quality of product; managing packaging and quality control of production operations; development and adherence to procedures and standards of safety, quality and efficiency; hiring, training, supervising and development of staff (salaried and hourly) as needed to perform brewing and packaging functions; maintain brewing and packaging equipment using proper operating, cleaning, and preventive maintenance procedures; participate in festivals and promotional events.

Requirements: (1) minimum 5 years experience as a lead/head brewer with packaging line experience (2) thorough knowledge of the science and art of the brewing process, (3) formal degree/course work, (4) knowledge of fundamentals of plumbing and machinery, (5) knowledge of OSHA and TTB requirements, (6) strong project management and problem solving skills (7) interpersonal skills to deal with both internal (staff) and external (customers) (8) capable of lifting 50 pounds.
