  • brewers guild - non-profit 501(c)3 formation

    Hello all

We have now incorporated our local brewers guild and, now going through the required paperwork to attain non-profit status, we are unsure if this is possible. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

    Thank you in advance.

I can't imagine that you'd have any more than the normal problems. The guild itself is basically an advocacy group and is not producing any alcoholic beverages, and once your lawyer explains this to the IRS, you should be set.

As anyone setting up a 501(c)4 out there? Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know if there is a shield policy group to raise funds and promote beer policy. I hate to be part of the problem, but I also don't like asinine beer laws.

If you are a Brewers Association member, contact the Guild coordinator, Acacia Coast. She can be a big help throughout the whole process of setting up a state guild.
