Kent Keg Filler - What's Stainless?

So are all the parts on the gw kent keg filler supposed to be stainless or just the parts that contact the beer?

I ask because I'm a moron and forgot the unit in my bucket of starsan for nearly 24 hours and a few parts turned completely black. My assumption was because the black parts are simply NPB.

Pics attached, though they don't really do justice to how black the parts became (crappy phone camera... sorry).

Any thoughts? These are the only parts that turned black. Everything else is fine. Odd that one of the nuts was fine while the one in the pic turned completely black.

I Would say that you are probably correct in saying that those peices are NPB. I have seen this before at two previous breweries I have worked at and I am sure I will hit this issue in my new brewery. I would not be concerned too much as long as the black piece does not touch beer. Do a visual inspection with a bright LED light on the interior of the filler and it should still look good. Hope this helps.

You can get black on 302 stainless if you have a high enough concentration of star-san (acid) for a long enough time. I had a bottle of star san fall over and sit for a week in the bottom of my sink and it's a semi-permanent black spot.

NPB is Nickle Plated Brass. Sometimes the outside of taps are made like this, particularly the the pin that hold the two parts of the tap together. The nut is sometimes nickle plate brass too. If it is this pin or anything else on the outside black on the outside of the tap it should be fine, but check the surfaces that touch the beer with an LED light and it should show clean. If it does look clean try scrubing and then replacing if you do not have any luck.
