Head brewer/assistant brewer-San Diego
Qualified candidates should have at least one year of experience as head brewer of a brewery or brewpub and have the ability to work alone and with others. Applications from those without the minimum requirements will not be considered. Located in San Diego. Duties and other qualifications include:
◦ Brewing
◦ Raw materials ordering, receiving and handling
◦ Lifting 55# bags to shoulder height repeatedly
◦ Keg washing and filling
◦ Can filling
◦ Cellar duties (CIP, SIP, tank purging, DE filtration, fining and transferring, fermentation monitoring, among others)
◦ Recipe formulation
◦ Root beer production
◦ Mid-month and end of month government tax reporting
◦ Monthly inventory and constant inventory monitoring to ensure an efficient supply of raw materials and finished product
◦ An eye for detail to maintain a clean work environment and equipment
◦ Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
◦ Beer line cleaning
◦ Excellent sensory analysis skills to maintain quality control
◦ Precise record-keeping for all raw materials, packaging materials, government records, production records, shipping/receiving documents
◦ This is a physically demanding job that requires the ability to work in extremely hot conditions for much of the year as well as cold
◦ Public speaking skills are required to conduct tours, teach restaurant and sales staff and for events such as beer dinners, tastings and festivals
◦ Promotion of products outside of the brewery at festivals and other beer events is required
◦ Loading of finished product onto trucks
◦ Safety-mindedness is of the utmost importance (lifting, chemicals, hot liquids and hardware, inhalation hazards, noise)
◦ Willingness and ability to step in wherever needed
◦ Plusses include:
▪ Good mechanical skills (welding, carpentry, electrical, steam, plumbing)
▪ Lab skills
▪ Distilling experience
The person who fills this position would work under the direction of Analog Ales head brewer to design and produce new products as well as maintain production of some regular established brands. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, experienced brewer to help grow a business!
