Head Brewer (full-time)

Back East is a 10 BBL packaging brewery in Bloomfield, CT scheduled to open early this summer. We have a capacity of 2,500 BBL/year and our beer will be sold through a local distributor in draft, 750ml, and growlers. This position will start on or around July 1.

The head brewer will be responsible for all aspects of the brewing process, grain to glass (or keg). As a startup, there will be other responsibilities, including, but not limited to: inventory management, recipe development, brewery maintenance, and last but not least, customer interaction and participation in events, tours, tastings, etc.

We’re looking for a hardworker with an entrepreneurial spirit interested in joining us at the ground floor and helping to grow our brewery. We’re a small team, but we have a lot of fun and take great pride in our beer. The candidate must have the usual criteria: lift up to 75 lbs., move kegs, problem-solving skills, proficiency in all aspects of brewing and brewhouse operations, etc. Hours are flexible, but may include weekend and evening hours. The eligible candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of commercial brewing experience in a small brewery setting (preferably a packaging brewery), have a great love, appreciation, and respect for all things Craft beer, and willing to work hard.
