best way to deal with that is cut the barrel in half, fill both with soil and plant hops.
Anybody ended up with ethyl acetate (solvant thinner) in there barrel? Have you try to do something to get ride of it (the smell and taste not the barrel)

once it's in the barrel, it's hard to get out. a rain barrel perhaps?
