    Gambrinus ESB Pale

Anyone out there using Gambrinus ESB Pale Malt as your base malt? I'm curious about the flavor profile. Specifically, how does it compare to UK varieties like Marris Otter and Golden Promise? Any feedback is appreciated.

Having used all three, the ESB is less refined tasting - more brash and in your face with a higher toasted malt character and a thicker malted caramel effect.

Love the GP, though. I pretty sure it's the base malt for Surly's Furious (as well as a few of their other beers, too).

We use it a lot. I think it's kinda in between a normal pale 2-row and Maris. Gives a little toasty sumpin sumpin to the background.
