  • Venting question

Im looking at the options of electric vs gas and one question i have is venting. What are you all finding that is required. I would assume all gas systems need a vent hood or some sort of combustion ventilation but what about electric? Can you get away with a simple fan to remove steam with a 2-3 bbl electric system?

I have done a search but most people say ask the inspector. Care to share your experience? I understand it is not the "Final answer" but I was hoping to get a feel for what is currently required in most places.

I have a 2bbl direct fired. I have a 6" vent from the HLT (130k BTU burner) and an 8" vent from the kettle (220k btu). the first 8 feet are stainless then transition to galv.
Steam vent is 6" stainless chimney liner.
I've seen several 2 and 3bbl setups with a single hood.

I chose gas because our gas rates are very good here, but with a direct fired system a lot of the heat goes up the stack. Despite that I can achieve boil in about 30 minutes after the kettle is full if I start the heat after 30gal of sparge.
    Prost!
