  • Threaded Tap Handle Insert

Does anyone have a wholesale source for the threaded tap handle inserts? (The metal part that goes into the end of a tap handle where it screws onto the faucet.)
    Thanks

The little metal guys are called "ferrules" and I get them from taphandles.com. Here's the link

We get ours at Tacoma Screw here in the Everett, WA area. They're a commercial wholesaler of fasteners and sundry hardware. You may have a similar place out there in Montana. If not, give them a call or see if they have internet ordering.

Well, I've gotten the double-female ferrules from taphandles.com too, but maybe you're after something that's FEMALE to receive the top threaded faucet piece, and MALE to go into any 1/2" drilled hole - in a piece of wood, that is.

Here's one of those - not exactly a wholesale source though:

          Tap Handle Ferrules

I know this post has been dead for a number of years but I found that kegworks dot com has some nice ferrules here...
Beer Tap Parts keep your taps handles looking sharp. Use a new ferrule or finial to create or upgrade your long loved keg tap handle. Beer Tap Parts come in gold, chrome, and polished brass finishes.

I am also working on building a links page for information on the web on how to build custom tap handles here...

Thanks for all the useful feedback. I found my best source for these brass threaded inserts (insert into the end of the tap handle) is my local hardware store! Who knew?
By the way, I STRONGLY recommend to all the brewer's and owners out there of small micros to invest in a midi-lathe and turn your own handles. VERY theraputic, cost effective, and carries the whole hand-crafted thing to another level.

I agree totally. Just made my first dozen tap handles this weekend. Very rewarding and financially worth while.

                  Inserts

Dave, McMaster Carr offers the threaded insert for $14.13 per 25. McMaster Carr's part number is 90016A031. They're referred to as knife-threaded inserts for wood, manufactured by E-Z Lok (part 400-6), internal thread 3/8-16. You'll find other suppliers to be far more expensive. I use a 1/2 drill, if you're using a soft material for the handle, coating the threads with epoxy will keep them from stripping out as readily. You can also easily resin-cast around them.

                    Knife Thread Insert

OK I did a little searching around and also found the EZ Lok Knife inserts here through fastenall...

Keep in mind that I also visited my local hardware store and they stock these for $.96 per insert and are also made of brass!
