  • On-line fork lift training/cert?

Who do you all use? We need to meet Oregon OSHA standards. There are an overwhelming number of places offering training/cert on-line. I'd like to find something affordable, but real.

The state of Michigan does them for free here. It was a 3 hour lecture/video class then we had a little driving unloading test and that was it

We opted for a third party company called Forklift Training Systems. They're bases locally, but branched nationally. For a company of 40 we're having two staff members trained as certified trainers. The certification is good for a lifetime and they can train all other staff in house for free.

If you're looking to keep the cost of the certification down, try to work with local breweries to get one person in the community trained who doesnt mind training other brewery employees once or twice a year.

        Aww, fuggedabowtit

After talking to our Oregon OSHA rep, it turns out we can handle this entirely in-house, and issue our own certification. Indeed, the entire on-line training/certification business is a SCAM--at least in Oregon. We designate one person (the most experienced with lift trucks) as our trainer, he studies the OSHA material at the OSHA site, then trains, tests, and certifies the rest of our emps.

At least in the state of Oregon, no such legal document as a "forklift certification" exists or is recognized. Save yer bucks!
