  • Campden Tablets (Sodium Metabisulfite)

In an effort to try a different water supply and wanting to remove chloramines, I added the above to the HLT and Mash water. To my surprise the hop bitterness seemed most rounded and altered the flavor of my recipe (Blond) in a very positive way. The HLT developed a white chalky past at the waterline was noted.

Is this process commonly used and with these results?

I can't say I've ever heard of the use of Campden tabs in brewing water at all, but if it's working for you, more power to ya!
