We have an immediate opening for an Assistant Brewer at our very exciting new farm brewery in Loudoun County, Virginia opening in October. We are located in the village of Lucketts along the Potomac River, between Leesburg, VA and Frederick, MD (about 45 mins west of DC). We are located on a 53 acre farm where we will focus on brewing featuring ingredients grown on the farm. We have a 10 BBL system and a large tasting room and event space - a beautiful rural setting to work in. We will also have a sour and large barrel house program. Experience in farming, horticulture or microbiology is preferred. We expect our assistant brewer to participate in the creative process, and become a leader on projects that best fit their specialty. Ability to both lead and to follow when called upon is important. This position will be called upon to lead projects and to collaborate with the head brewer and other guest brewers. This will be a very unique place, and a very exciting opportunity for the right candidate.
Responsibilities for this position include:
• Responsible for entire brewing process including: brewing, cellaring, and packaging
• Cleaning/ sanitizing tanks and other equipment
• Kegging and keg cleaning
• Quality Control, including determining yeast viability and pitch rate.
• Accurate record keeping
• Participation in events and festivals
Preferred candidates for this position possess:
• Experience as a head brewer or assistant brewer for 2 years or applicable degree
• Physical strength to lift 55 lbs repeatedly
• Possess a mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
• Flexible work schedule
• Ability to work in a TEAM!
