A new Northern Virginia brewery is looking for a Master Brewer for full time work running our brewery operations. Duties and responsibilities include brewing, recipe formulation, supply and ingredient ordering, cleaning/sanitizing tanks and other equipment, yeast propagation and lab work, cellar work such as beer transferring and fermentation monitoring and clarification, packaging work, accurate record keeping, inventory monitoring, washing kegs, some preventative maintenance, barrel cleaning and filling, wastewater management, grain disposal, and having a good time. You will be able to hire an assistant part-time brewer once operations are underway.
Required:
Minimum 3 years brewing experience in a production brewery
Experience ordering ingredients and supplies.
Strong Quality Control Background
Strong mechanical aptitude
Strong cleaning/sanitizing skills
Able to work effectively with multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong yeast handling skills
Flexible schedule requirements (including some weekends work)
Able to frequently lift up to 75 pounds and move up to 165 pounds
Detail oriented
Communicates well
Desired:
Great recipe development skills
Recognized brewing education
Laboratory knowledge
Works well with others
Computer proficiency
Organization/management skills
The brewery will be a packaging brewery with a robust tasting room. We will first keg our beer, then move into a mobile packaging solution. This is a real opportunity to enter a highly sophisticated market. You would come on board during the middle phases of the build out and help as we get ready to open.
