  • TTB final approval

Hey everyone, Just curious how long you had to wait for your final approval. We were told that our application has been sent to whoever gives the final say, but that was about 4 weeks ago. Have any of you had the same experience? Are they so busy that this is just how it is? Thanks for any input.

Minimum 4 months from my personal experience and of those which I've spoken to on the subject. The agent assigned to our application was friendly and responsive, but he doesn't get to push it any quicker. They reviewed our application and had us correct a few things very quickly after submitting it; however, it still took a few months even though we amended the corrections immediately.

We started the application process about 10 months ago. Our assigned agent passed our application on for the final approval. This was about 4 weeks ago. Basically everything is done and we are just waiting to be approved. Just trying to gauge how long that usually takes. Sorry if my question wasn't clear.

Are you still waiting? I got word that ours has been referred for final approval but it's been 3 weeks or so.

        Cheers,

Submitted an amended notice 7 months ago. They just got around to working on our request last week.

            Still waiting

We submitted our application on June 30, 2015 and I was just informed last week that we are now in final disposition. I asked my rep how long that step takes and she said 3-6 weeks. Working with the TTB has been a true test of patience. I know from experience in my prior career life that pressuring the government in any way never yields positive results.

Once I get the brewers notice from the TTB, I have to go back to my state LCB and wait for my handler there to schedule the inspection and give the lesson on taxation and then I should be golden. I heard that my state LCB is running 2 to 4 months out right now so I am hoping that by early May we should be legit.

Best of luck to you! Hope you don't have to wait too long!!

We submitted our initial application on 07/09/2015 and were approved on 11/05/2015... our file was sent for final disposition on 10/02/2015 so the lag time between getting to the manager's desk and actually being looked at seems to be the rule and not the exception. We got our U.S. Senator (who's a big supporter of the craft beer industry) involved to inquire about our application as well.

Based on my conversations with TTB staff, they're flooded with applications right now. This project has had a far longer "burn" time than I originally expected.

Just to add a few data points for my earlier post.... we submitted on 7/5/15, first contact for clarifications/corrections was 12/13/15, went to final disposition on 12/15/15, approval happened yesterday on 1/12/16. That makes for around 181 days in processing, with the published average processing time when we submitted being around 130 days. With the number of applications they're going through, I figure someone has to be on the long side of that average, and it looks like it was me

Now on to the State ABC who has been (so far) pretty clear and responsive. The licensing has been a test of patience for sure, but not nearly so much as working with our local construction code enforcement officials.

                Cheers!

Do those of you who used an attorney in submitting the application believe that it helped make the process any faster?

I didn't use an attorney, but it seems to me that this would only make the process way more expensive. The TTB filing application is pretty straight forward and should be able to be completed by someone with no experience in such matters (such as myself lol)

This. I also did it myself as well and it was easy. Also, the folks I spoke to at the TTB were extremely helpful when I had a question and it was easy to get in touch with them.

                      Cheers,

So, we actually ended up getting our application approved the day I started this thread. It took something like 14 phone calls to reach an actual person to see what the deal was. The explanation we got was our file was randomly selected for an audit. The audit was completed and our application was just sitting on the desk waiting to be approved. Apparently it was sitting there for a few weeks. Once we were able to contact a real person, she was extremely helpful and got our file pushed through that day (which was impressive for a government office at about 3 o'clock on a Friday.) Good luck to anyone still waiting and just be aware that a random audit is a possibility. Cheers,

I do not think they are random anymore. I was told today they had made some changes recently to the approval system and an audit would be part of it. Been working this since May.

                              Approved

Submitted 10/5/15 Approved today 1/28/16. Was originally submitted for final approval on Dec 17 2015 but my specialist didn't make clear something so was returned to her on 12/27/15 then corrected and resubmitted for final approval on Jan 5 2016. I called two days ago asking what was taking so long rep told me to email my specialist and that odds are i would be approved by end of week. 2 days later i was approved.

Woohoo now time to make some damn beer.
