  • stackable kegs of pallets

Does anyone know of a company that makes stackable locating rings to stack pallets of kegs on each other.
We have stackable kegs, but move have to move full and empty kegs around a lot from one space to another. We find the kegs are not that stable, even with shrink wrapping.
We would like to minimize our use of shrink wrap to stabilize the kegs

Kegs we use are 50L DIN and 29.3L slim style. We got our kegs from Geemacher and NDL

    Any help is appreciated.

out of curiousity what is your big aversion to shrink wrap?

I have found that if you do two very tight wraps holding the wrap sideways so it creates a rope one half way up the kegs, and then again at the top weld for the collar, and then do a quick wrap regularly around the two ropes that the kegs cant be shifted by a human being. Once they are all in tight formation it is unlikely that they will move on the pallet. Takes me 20 seconds to wrap a pallet of kegs, faster if they are stacked so you can do two at once.

I have no aversion to shrink wrap.

Vancouver, B.C. Canada is really putting an effort to be a "Green City". Lots of general support within the city.
We go through a lot of plastic/cardboard, as we package a lot. We can easily fill up our dumpster twice a week with cardboard and plastic.
Just adds up. Not too many breweries figure out how much money it costs to remove garbage.

Just trying to minimize our plastic use, and hoping to find something that just fits over a row of kegs, and stabilizes it so we don't need to wrap. We are moving kegs across alleys on a forklift that is not designed for this, so it can tip and spill over pretty easily if we are not mindful.

Thanks for your advice. We do the "plastic rope" technique; some guys at work just haven't gotten the hang of it.

We've just ordered a big bunch of endless ratchet straps for moving pallets of kegs from packaging to our warehouse (a mile away) and empties back again in a drive to cut down on waste from wrap or polypropylene strapping. They haven't turned up yet but I can't see why they're not a good economical and green alternative. We have some locator boards but tend to think the stackable kegs secured well are more stable without.

        Cheers

We use two bands of polypropylene banding on each pallet of kegs (1/2 and 1/6) and stack our kegs 5 pallets high. Never had legs fall of when properly

Or some similar thing. It's recyclable, at least in SF

This is the proper response. Holds better than shrink wrap and is easy to reuse. Also cheap enough it doesn't matter if you don't get them all back from distributors.

Talk to Steve Mason at Canada Kegs in Ontario, they have plastic pallet stackers for kegs which are awesome.
