    Job Description:

    New Brewery In Santa Rosa, California seeking Maintenance Technician

    Reports to: Director of Operations

    Full or Part Time: Full, 40 hours per week plus overtime (as needed)

    Schedule: TBD. 5 days per week.

    Compensation: This position will be paid hourly. Candidates will be offered a competitive wage which is commensurate with experience level.

    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
    This position is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient function of the brewing, packaging and warehousing operations at a start-up brewing and beverage packaging plant. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and capable of managing time well. This will include equipment maintenance, spare parts inventory, metal fabrication & repairs, troubleshooting & diagnosis of brewery systems.

    Operational up-time is the primary objective for any production brewery. The maintenance staff are responsible for keeping things running smoothly and helping to recover quickly from process breakdowns. The ideal candidate will have this in mind at all times.

    Christopher Jackson, whose father Jess Jackson created the well-known Kendall-Jackson wine label in 1982 and built a global wine empire before passing away in 2011, is in the process of constructing a 25,000-barrel craft brewery to open this summer in California’s Sonoma County. In an interview with Brewbound, Jackson described his new $8 million Seismic Brewing Company project, which will be located at 2870 Duke Ct. in Santa Rosa, Calif., as an independent venture.

    Job Requirements:

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    •Monitor and maintain the following critical brewery systems:
    -Boilers & associated steam delivery components
    -Canning, kegging and associated packaging equipment
    -HVAC, glycol chiller, and coldbox refrigeration
    -Brewhouse, cellar, and auxiliary controls (PLCs and other logical control systems)
    -Mill and malt handling system
    -Pumps, motors, and small equipment generally used in brewing
    •Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all equipment
    •Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with OSHA regulations and WSJ standards
    •Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization around the brewery

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Able to frequently reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
    • Ability to frequently lift 55 pounds and move up to 165 pounds using traditional methods
    • Ability to ascend or descend a staircase and/or ladder repeatedly during shift
    • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    •Two years of relevant technical experience in the brewing industry, food/beverage manufacturing, or similar production environment.
    •High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS:
    •Strong mechanical, electrical, welding, fabrication, plumbing, and troubleshooting skills
    •Knowledge of steam principles, HVAC, boiler, and brewery process and industrial controls
    •Experience with maintaining brewery packaging equipment
    •Safe working procedures & ability to follow SOP
    •Self-motivated with ability to work independently with limited direction, as well as within a team environment
    •Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    •Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and email
