  • Switched long neck bottles and crowns are too loose

Our 12oz twist off long necks were out of stock and we had to buy a few pallets from another supplier to bridge the gap for a week or so. In the past we have done this without issue. This time we've found that we can't get enough torque on the new bottles with our twist off crowns that we've used with a few different bottles. They come off with no effort and certainly wouldn't hold once filled. The source we bought the bottles from has been of no help. I'm waiting to hear back from the folks at Gamer (our crown supplier) but wanted to see if someone who's had the same experience might be able to share.
    Thanks in advance!

The crowns are not the problem. The tops of your new bottles are not the same size as the old ones. You don't mention what kind of crowner you are using--which does matter. Some crowners allow for adjustment of crown tightness, but others, like our Arol on our GAI3003Bier, require a different closing cone for different bottles.

      Crown Gauge for 26mm bottles

Came across this Crown Gauge called the King Crimp. It is stainless steel and is a Go/No-Go gauge for checking crimp quality. Has 1.120, 1.125, 1.130, 1.135 holes for 26mm bottles. http://www.kingcrimp.com
