  • Birch Syrup

    Hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone has any experience adding birch syrup to their beers? Any advice would be awesome!

We have a stout with birch syrup. We add one L per 15 bbls in the bright tank.

That about 0.5 ml of syrup (=1/10th of a teaspoon) per liter of beer, if my math is right. Do you get any noticeable flavour impact at that rate?

yes, the syrup is there, but it's pretty subtle. We've had different batches of birch syrup, and if you get it sweetened (ours has been with glucose) it's kind of harsh at first. It does end up smoothing out, but takes awhile (3,4 months maybe) The unsweetened syrup smooths out quite a bit faster, more like a month.
