New to the brewery laboratory, I am using HLP and LCSM media. How are you home brewers and small breweries discarding your samples? In the hospital laboratory, we had to incinerate or autoclave our plates and tubes. Am I going to have to pressure cook/sterilize my waste in the brewery too, or can it go into regular waste?

For our lab waste, I called the Waste Management Department of the city and they were able to tell me how to dispose of my used media after I sent them the SDS and ingredient information.

Based on the ingredients found in the LCSM media and its SDS, I would bet that it is NOT suitable for the trash bin, but I would recommend calling the city to find out.
