Brewmaster
As the Brewmaster at Propeller Brewing Company, you will always be busy with something. You are in charge of producing top quality beer at the largest craft brewery in the Maritime provinces You have a passion for developing new beers that will become favorites as well as the ability to produce our core brands to a high and consistent level of quality. You have a good understanding of not just what goes on in a brewery, but also the underlying science and theory. Your responsibilities include the following:
-Perform brewer duties
-Wort production
-Yeast handling
-Tank cleaning
-Fermentation monitoring
-Production record keeping
-Soda production
-Pilot plant brew days
-Cleaning and maintenance
-Report to Production Manager and General Manager
-Ensure that quality parameters are being met and SOPs are being done
-With the Production Manager and Quality Assurance Technician, take part in recipe and procedure tweaking
-Pilot plant/”One-hit Wonder” recipe creation
-Manage inventory of ingredients/production supplies and coordinate spent grain removal
-Ensure production record keeping is being done properly
-Take part in special events and promotions as necessary (be able to talk shop with the public)
For success in this position your typical behaviours include attention to detail, effective communication, planning and organizing your work and problem solving when issues arise. Formal brewing education and professional experience required. Due to our location in the beautiful Maritimes, priority will be given to brewers already able to work in Canada.
