  • Are all glycols created equal?

I've found several vendors online that sell different brands of glycol; prices ranging from $640-$990 for a 55 gallon drum, is there any difference? I don't mind paying more for a better product but i don't want to pay more for the same stuff.

Some offer pre diluted mixtures. I have bought some by mistake before. I have not seen any other versions of Propylene Glycol. The price can also vary wildly depending on demand from summer to winter. Cheer.

Propylene, not ethylene glycol, and must be food grade just in case of leaks. Definitely not vehicle grade. There have been preferences expressed here for coloured glycol to help identify leaks. Do a search for these discussions.

There is also a difference between inhibited and uninhibited propylene glycol. Your chiller manufacturer might require inhibited. http://msdssearch.dow.com/PublishedL...romPage=GetDoc

Thanks, I should have been more specific. All are undiluted, Propylene, USP (food grade), inhibited.

Well, that changes things. This is like buying auto parts from the auto parts store vs the dealership.
