  • Safale K-97 question

I have a lot of experience with BSI A-07 German Ale and really like the profile of the yeast. Dry yeast may become more practical for me in the near future and was wondering if anyone knows if that is the same strain as Safale K-97. It seems like it may be but I can't get a solid consensus if they are in fact the same strain.

    Thanks

    I'd bet money on it!

I believe A-07 = WY1007 = WLP036 = K-97. This is the Zum Uerige yeast; Kris England states this for the Wyeast & White Labs specifically, at http://www.mrmalty.com/yeast.htm. I have experience with WY1007 as the strain for one of the house beers at my last brewpub, and am using K-97 periodically now, and can discern no difference. One of my nearby colleagues has come to the same opinion. Great yeast!

Excellent! Thank you. This is exactly what I thought. Glad to have a pretty definite answer though.
      Cheers!
