  • Serving wine at a BnB

    Hello!
I run a six room Bed and Breakfast I've been contemplating placing complimentary bottles of wine in the rooms for guests. I may also sell replacement bottles if requested.

I'm completely new to this. Do I need a permit/license to do this in NYS?

Of course you do. You need a state license.

I've spend just a bit of time reading right now and it seems evident that the scale differs greatly depending on what you're trying to do.

I do plan on starting to unpeel this on the phone this week, but can someone give me a general sense of what I'm up against... time, money, and effort wise to be able to gift unopened bottles of wine?

You realize this isn't a wine site right? Call the state liquor authority and ask them. Or look on their website. The license for an innkeeper isn't very expensive.
