[B]Descendants Beer & Beverage Co: Brewer Position

Duties & Responsibilities
• 2+ years experience as a Head Brewer or Assistant brewer in an established production brewery
• Troubleshooting skills, mechanical skills, basic plumbing and electrical knowledge, and ability to keep equipment working, maintained
• Ability to perform all tasks associated with making consistently high quality beer, from milling to the packaging tank and yeast management.
• Conducts a pre-inspection and operates all equipment associated with the brewing processes. Equipment includes but not limited to the malt mill, mash kettle,
lauter tun, wort kettle, whirlpool, fermenters, chiller, filtration and steam boiler.
• Develop and perform preventative maintenance routines
• Collaborate on beer recipe development
• Understanding and adhering to all safety standards, PPE and WHMIS requirements
• Prepares, organizes and tracks all materials used during the brewing process.
• Monitor the processes and adjust as required to meet high quality standards.
• Maintains accurate and timely logs and reporting throughout the brewing process
• Manage raw material inventory to ensure availability for brewing.
• Ability to perform thorough sanitation duties including the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and utensils to ensure quality standards are met.
• Seek improvements for the beer and efficiencies for the brewing processes
• Promote accident prevention by eliminating potential hazards and incorporating proper body mechanics in training procedures.
• Manage the brewing schedule, share the brewing schedule and maintain flexibility within the schedule
• Organize brewing tasks and supervise/utilize staff effectively
Working Conditions
• Noisy
• Exposed to hot and cold environments frequently
• Overtime required
• May be required to work outside normal business hours
Physical Requirements
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
