The “Pitch”…
Jing-A Brewing Co. is an award winning craft brewery in Beijing, China, on a mission to kick-start a Chinese craft beer revolution, and wow the world with amazing beers brewed with Chinese characteristics. We’re looking for passionate and motivated stars to help us get there.
In particular, we’re currently looking for a Head Brewer to lead our overall brewing operations out of Beijing. Our Head Brewer will have a hands-on approach to leadership, working both with the Founders to develop recipes, chart capacity expansion, manage ingredient procurement, and develop process improvements; as well as with two full-time junior brewers to brew awesome and experimental craft beers on our small 4HL Taproom system, and with our brew service team on 100HL batches of liquid gold at a new production brewery outside of Beijing.
Our ideal candidate, first and foremost, will share our love and passion for great beer, and have an enthusiasm for brewing that inspires our team and our beer fans alike. You’ll also get as excited as we are about the idea of converting China’s 1.3 billion people to the wonders of great beer, and blowing minds around the world with craft beer brewed with Chinese characteristics.
Beyond passion, we want our Head Brewer to back things up with real experience. Solid chops brewing great consistent beer from start to finish on a small scale brewpub system, as well as proficiency at a production brewery scale at everything from yeast management, to brewhouse, to cold side, to quality control, filtration management, and packaging. Our Head Brewer will have experience in a supervisory role, be a great team player, a good communicator, a positive role model for the company, and generally just a fun person to hang out with.
We see this as a critical role within our brewing company, and can offer a competitive package for the right person.

The Day-to-Day…
- Your day starts with jumping on your bike (or moped) and heading to our first brewpub location located in the heart of Beijing. There you will check-in with your two brew assistants (who have just mashed-in) and make sure the brew is on track.
- Next, you grab a coffee with the co-founders (Kris & Alex) and chat about what new, experimental beers and ingredients they are eager to try. You also dive into the “nitty gritty” with them discussing all aspects of the brewery including future brewery expansion plans.
- Just before lunch you will connect with a network of suppliers to ensure that we are getting the best possible malts, hops, yeasts for our beer and make sure that our raw material inventories are in check.
- Over a hot bowl of Beijing noodles, you catch-up with our Operations, Sales and Marketing team to get a 360 degree view of what’s going on with the business. You figure out how we make sure the brewery is able to meet our sales forecasts, deliver exciting beers at events & festivals as well as prepare for upcoming beer competitions.
- You then jump back to the Brewpub to check-in on the brew. During the boil you break away to make sure that the brew schedule at the production brewery is on track and you start preparing a trip out there.
- Just before the transfer, you are back meeting with Kris & Alex to prepare for an upcoming collaboration brew. You throw around ideas and get excited about a new, beer that is going to wow beer fans on both sides of the ocean. You all discuss future expansion plans including brewery layout for our new space, equipment vendors, barrels and all that fun stuff.
- Once fresh, award-winning wort has been transferred to the FV, you head over to the taproom for a couple of cold brews with the rest of the team.
The Rockstar…
- University degree, with specialization in brewing, chemistry, etc preferred
- 10+ years experience in commercial brewing at a leading craft brewery, with minimum 3+ years in a head/lead brewer position.
- Proven track record not only brewing award winning, creative beers, but also managing the daily operations of a production scale brewery.
- Chinese language skills (or an interest in learning) not required, but would be a bonus.
- Pumped about moving to Beijing for the next three years.
- Love creating, brewing and drinking exceptional craft beer.
