New Realm Brewing Co. is looking for a Head Brewer for their soon-to-be-open Atlanta location, working directly under Brewmaster and COO Mitch Steele. This position is a hands-on management and production position, and covers all aspects of brewing from ingredient evaluation and supply, brewing and packaging, and QA. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has technical skills, mechanical aptitude, planning skills, communications skills and excellent brewing skills who wants a long term opportunity to grow their leadership skills with our company as we set out to do something very special in Atlanta.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• A college degree in a science-related field, and a brewing education from a qualified program.
• At least 5 years hands-on and supervisory experience in a production brewery.
• Good working knowledge of Brewing Safety, Housekeeping and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Supervisory skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Some experience with QA analytical procedures.
• Kegs, cans and bottles packaging experience.
• Recipe formulation experience.
• Barrel aged beers experience.
• Solid familiarity of classic and newer beer styles.
• Strong commitment to continuous improvement.
• A good sense of humor.
• A love of IPA and other hoppy beers
This position involves hands-on brewing and managing the day to day operations in our brewery and restaurant in mid-town Atlanta GA. The Head Brewer will help establish our work culture and help to ensure our philosophy of having fun while working hard, working smart, learning all the time, and having a life outside of work. We are scheduled to start brewing in September, and ideally we will have the Head Brewer in place by mid-August. We will have a fully automated 4-vessel 20 bbl brewhouse and a 2-vessel 5 bbl pilot system, which will allow for significant creative opportunities for the person in this role. The Head Brewer will be directly responsible for maintaining process consistency in the beers, managing and scheduling the brewing team, maintaining excellent records of all brewing processes, developing SOPs, and working with the entire team to come up with innovative and classic recipe ideas.
