  • Propane gas burner recommendation for 700 litre boil kettle

Can anyone recommend a propane gas burner for our 700 litre boil kettle? We're based in Argentina and running off 45kg propane gas tanks. Currently have a way underpowered burner that takes about 7 hours for 400 lts of water to reach 100 centigrade. Thanks!

I'm not sure your propane tank will provide enough gas, but assuming it does, what about 1 or 2 of the JETC88 - 19" Diameter Jet Ring Burner like these? It's available in propane.

Buy Jet Ring Burners - 6", 8", 10", 14", 19" Diameter Jet Ring Burner & Brass Orifice Tip Fitting at GasHosesandRegulators.com. Roofing contractors commonly use the big cast iron jet ring burners as roofing tar pot heaters and also for heating asphalt.

These are available from a lot of different vendors...probably someone in Colombia should have them. I'm sure it will sound like a rocket taking off, but this will produce a lot of heat. You could probably make something yourself from a rectangular manifold, if you purchased the jets individually. The key with these is to install the jets in pairs, so the flames impinge on each other. 700 litres is a lot, though...this burner is good for probably 2/3 of that. It's got to be faster than 7 hours, though!

They claim 880,000 BTU/hr, but that's probably the gas consumption, not the heat produced. Your tank will need to be able to vaporize that much propane, though.
