White Labs is looking for an Assistant Brewer to join our San Diego, CA brewing team!
Position Summary
Under general direction of the Brewing Manager the Assistant Brewer is responsible for producing wort for yeast propagation in addition to brewing beer for sale and consumption in the White Labs Tasting Room.
Essential Functions and Duties
• Operates all brewing equipment to produce wort that meets specifications for yeast propagation.
• Responsible for full cycle brewing process and operation of brewing equipment for beer production.
• Monitors fermentation, notifying management of any concerns or issues.
• Kegs finished beer for sale in Tasting Room.
• Performs daily clean up and maintenance of brewery area.
• Performs CIP on all brewing equipment/fermenters as required.
• Assists with additional tasks as required by Brewing/Production department.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience working in a brewery, preferably in a brewing/production capacity.
• Forklift certification a plus.
• Works well independently and cooperatively with others.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate production needs.
Physical Demands
Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 10%. Requires walking, standing, kneeling, bending and reaching for more than 90% of the workday. Lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
