Whalebird Kombucha is a fast growing small business in the SLO community looking to immediately hire on a unique, timely, confident, and detail oriented individual to our production team. This person must have a love for working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to operate and understand machinery and production workflow.
Kombucha is a rapidly growing segment more closely related to a sour beer ferment than anything else. Our culture consists of a proprietary blend of Brett, Zygo, and Pichia for yeast strains and a handful of acetobacters. We are currently a draft only commodity, with brite tanks, pumps, carb stones, keg washers, filtration, RO water, and many other functions closely resembling a standard beer brewery's cellar. You would be part of a 4-5 person production crew, led by our production coordinator who has 10 yrs of Craft beer experience working with companies such as AleSmith, Firestone, Budweiser, and others.
Time Demand:
40 hr/week
Job Description (below but not limited to):
Hot Side Work - Brewing, Transferring, Blending, Filtration
Cold Side Work - Force Carbonation, kegging, storing kegs in the cold room
Industrial systems - pumps, working with pressures, water quality
QA - taking measurements, inputting data readings
*A hybrid delivery/draft tech/Cellar role is available as well
Mandatory Abilities:
Able to maintain work/life balance
Lift 60 lbs repeatedly
Drink Kombucha... a lot
Bend, squat, hunch, stoop, and all the other obscure angles one may need
Get down and dirty when needed
Affection for disco balls
Organized and detail oriented
Manage themselves and others with respect and as equals
Self guided
