    The cellarperson / lab tech is responsible for collecting and recording daily fermentation and packaged product data in addition to performing routine cellar and lab tasks with a Quality Assurance forward eye. Ultimately this position bridges the gap between between production and lab and enables them to communicate effectively in applying the data generated to be useful for both departments.

    Responsibilities may include:

    ● Monitoring fermentation and adjusting parameters to produce high quality beer
    ● Cleaning (CIP) and sanitizing (SIP) fermentation and bright beer tanks
    ● Cleaning tank exteriors, parts, floors, walls, etc.
    ● Capping and crashing tanks
    ● Performing dry hops, yeast drops, and cone drops
    ● Adding finings and other process aids to beer in tank
    ● Transferring beer from fermentor to bright tank
    ● Carbonating beer for packaging
    ● Performing microbiological testing on wort, beer, water, and equipment
    ● Maintaining cleanliness and organization of all lab areas
    ● Run tests on beer and wort, including pH, color, turbidity, ABV, DO, and IBU
    ● Performing routine water testing including chlorine, alkalinity, and pH
    ● Performing basic malt testing
    ● Managing yeast; including counting, viability testing, and pitch assignment
    ● Maintaining calibration and cleanliness of lab/brewery instrumentation
    ● Interpret lab data and bring any results requiring action to the cellars attention
    ● Performing all tasks according to SOP
    ● Adhering to all safety regulations at all times
    ● Ensure all necessary lab samples are taken

    Requirements
    ● At least 2 years of brewing industry employment with preference to production/ lab work
    ● 21 years of age or more
    ● Strong understanding of the brewing process
    ● Strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency
    ● Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
    ● Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and email, etc.)
    ● Good organizational and analytical skills
    ● Ability to work both alone and as a team
    ● Ability to follow complex instructions to a high level of detail and precision
    ● Ability to frequently lift at least 55 lb., move at least 180 lb., and work standing for several hours
    ● Ability to work safely around chemicals, heights, loud noises, mechanical equipment, wet environments, and other potential hazards
    ● Flexibility to work a variety of possible shifts, and to participate in company events
    ● Positive, get-it-done attitude and a passion for brewing and beer
    ● Experience in a laboratory role in brewing or related industry a plus
    ● Proficient with a microscope, aseptic technique, basic microbiology, media selection/preparation, and Gram staining
