Job Title: Brewery Tasting Room Manager
Reports to: Director of Operations
Location: TAPS Brewery & Barrel Room-Tustin, California
Position Summary and Purpose
The TAPS Brewery and Barrel Room Tasting Room Manager is responsible for managing all operations of
the Tasting Room. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to recruitment and engagement
of tasting room employees; exceeding expectations and quality concerning TAPS food, beer, beverage,
service, and sanitation; financial success including reporting, budgeting, and achievement of
financial goals. Additionally, the Brewery Tasting Room Manager will assist in managing the
operations, logistics, security and sanitation of the on-site TAPS food truck. The Brewery Tasting
Room Manager will be the cultural compass of the tasting room; influencing and guiding the energy,
service, and hospitality. The Brewery Tasting Room Manager must share TAPS commitment to quality,
irreproachable service, teamwork, leadership, safety, ethics, and continued innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the tasting room and on-site food truck, supervising food and beverage staff in
accordance with operating policies and procedures.
- Ensure all tasting room beverages and on-site TAPS food truck menu items are prepared and
presented per recipe specifications.
- Create a positive team atmosphere among employees that encourages accountability and achieves the
highest standards of food, beer, service and hospitality.
- Create, influence, and sustain a fun, high-energy and comfortable atmosphere of the tasting room
while simultaneously exceeding service and hospitality expectations.
- Manage and engage all employees; treating employees fairly and with respect; ability to lead with
commitment and passion.
- Accomplish restaurant-level human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting,
training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating
job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and
reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Manage guest relations; resolve issues timely and effectively.
- Oversee administrative requirements including: cash handling, financial reporting, posting, goal
setting and achievement, governmental compliance, and various reporting as required by law.
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing
sanitation standards and procedures including food handling, storage, and temperature; complying
with legal regulations.
- Assist with the development of food and beverage menu items.
- Meet or exceed tasting room financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual
budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Control and minimize costs by reviewing portion control and quantities of preparation; minimizing
waste; ensuring high quality of preparation.
- Conduct weekly inventory; estimate purchasing needs while simultaneously minimizing excess
inventory; establish positive relationships with vendors; minimize loss of product through over
use, breakage, or neglect.
- Develop initiatives and incentives to build sales, profitability and guest counts.
- Collaborate with the TAPS Brewery team to develop and implement internal and external marketing
initiatives, including by not limited to in-store promotions, philanthropy and community
involvement, off-site events, social media presence, and employee engagement.
- Collaborate with sales and executive team to promote, book, and host public and private events or
tours; maintains regularly scheduled tasting room events.
- Adhere to and enforce all applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Any additional tasks or responsibilities as required.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read, prepare, and analyze financial data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and
generated by computer.
- Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties,
evaluating service, appraising, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
- Ability to use all equipment and tools associated with managing tasting room, including but not
limited to: point of sale system, draft beer system, etc.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies,
standards, and laws.
- Knowledge of tasting room or restaurant operations.
- Knowledge of food and alcoholic beverages.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Must possess basic computer skills; ability to use word and spreadsheet processors.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills with a genuine strength and aptitude for meeting and
interacting with new people.
- Possess strong problem solving skills with the ability to diagnose inadequacies and
inefficiencies and implement solutions.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school or equivalent education required.
- Minimum of three years of tasting room, restaurant or hospitality management experience.
- Ability to successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- ServSafe and TIPS Certification.
- Cicerone Certification.
- Bachelors or advanced degree preferred.
- Five years of tasting room, restaurant or hospitality management experience.
Working Conditions
- Work performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
like freezers (-10F) and kitchens (+110F), possibly for one hour or more.
- Must be able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold,
and hot.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver carts and equipment (kegs) weighting up to 200 lbs.

- Must be able to twist turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, and crawl on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring
simultaneously.
