Lab Technician
Dry Dock Brewing Company’s North Dock brewery, located in Aurora, CO is seeking a full time Lab Technician. Dry Dock is a growing company which operates two separate breweries, a 7 BBL tasting-room location and a 40 BBL production facility. This position is for the production facility. This location produces about 25,000 BBL annually.
Job Summary:
This position involves assisting the QA/QC Manager in daily operations of the lab to ensure quality through the entire process, from raw materials to finished product. The right candidate will be safety-minded, efficient, quality-focused, have a great work ethic, a positive attitude and be part of the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Aseptic sampling of process beer for microbiological testing.
• Chemical analysis of beer including UV/Vis spectrophotometer, pH meter, dissolved oxygen, carbonation, titratable acidity, VDK distillation.
• Cell counts using a hemacytometer.
• Record keeping and data entry in Orchestrated Beer.
• Preparation of sterile microbiological media.
• Assists in training and conducting Sensory Panel.
• Follows and helps to improve laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Assists with maintaining laboratory inventory.
• Records and interprets results to present to coworkers and management.
• Assists with maintaining OSHA compliance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• 4 year degree in natural sciences (microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry orfood science preferred).
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time while being detail oriented.
• Has a passion for quality beer.
• Flexible schedule.
• Is generally happy and can have fun, even on high stress and demanding days.
• Can work in a team environment as a leader and problem solver.
• Is capable of drawing on past experience to provide valuable input in a rapidly growing brewery.
• Need to be self-motivated.
• Reliable transportation.
Physical requirements:
Our Lab Technician must be able to bend over, twist, kneel, stand for the duration of a shift, lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds repeatedly. Requires proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex machinery. Good communication skills.
