    HARPOON BEER HALL BACKGROUND

    The Harpoon Brewery has been brewing beer in Boston and welcoming visitors to its brewery for more than 25 years. In 2012, Harpoon completed major renovations and expansion to its Visitor Center and opened its new Beer Hall. The Beer Hall is a 350+ person on-premise establishment located in Harpoon’s Boston brewery that includes retail, tours and a tasting room and a function space. The menu consists of Harpoon’s great beer and famous freshly baked pretzels.

    OVERVIEW:


    The position requires managing a range of functions and activities in the retail and tour facility. The ideal candidate will have the skills, work habits, and genuine enthusiasm to create an environment in which every visitor has a positive Harpoon experience. An authentic interest in craft beer and craft beer drinkers alike is critical. The candidate must have the supervisory and interpersonal skills to handle direct and repeated interaction with visitors and staff. Established competency with retail systems and administrative/control routines is required. Success is dependent upon fit with Harpoon’s culture, which embraces entrepreneurship, hard work, and a passion for the Company’s mission and goals.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Train staff
    Supervise and evaluate performance of staff
    Maintain daily staffing schedule
    Ability to “manage the moment”
    General administrative and financial control duties

    Day to day operations of 350 person beer hall, keg yard and tour center
    Learn, understand, adhere to and communicate the company culture
    Cash handling
    Learn, practice and teach beer terminology and the brewing process
    Focus daily on the guest experience
    Opening and closing duties
    Adhere to the company alcohol service policy
    Daily cash reconciliation
    Maximizing Beer Hall profitability
    Maintaining excellent customer relations
    Cashier, stocking, merchandising
    Mastering company and brewing knowledge, and effectively communicating this knowledge to staff and customers

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


    Must be 21+
    College degree
    One or more years’ experience supervising a front-of-house restaurant team is strongly preferred
    Customer service focused and oriented
    Skillful planner with knowledge of basic business fundamentals
    Open availability required (including weekends and holidays)
