The Packaging Manager is a hands-on position that will be responsible for overseeing the entire packaging operation and ensuring packaging operations remain on schedule.
What The Job Involves:
- Work with Production Manager to manage daily packaging schedule.
- Maintain a safe working environment within the packaging department at all times.
- Lead acquisition of new employees. Train, schedule, and lead packaging team. Create opportunities for team and individual development.
- Develop, review, and revise Packaging SOP’s and standards with focus on safety, quality & efficiency.
- Ensure a clean, sanitary, and “showcase brewery” work environment all of the time.
- Schedule and perform setup, startup, shutdown, cleaning, and packaging line change-overs.
- Perform weekly and monthly inventory management for all production materials.
- Order packaging materials and schedule releases of packaging material to the brewery. Maintain sufficient inventory levels.
- Develop active relationships with current and new vendors and suppliers.
- Seek out process improvements to increase quality, improve line efficiencies, and increase safety.
- Lead inquires into beer quality issues as it relates to the packaging department, investigate non-conformities, and put measures into place to help prevent reoccurrences.
- Operate and troubleshoot all packaging equipment centers.
- Assist the Maintenance Department to create and maintain PM’s and equipment overhauls to ensure company safety and quality standards are met.
- Ensure effective communication throughout department and interdepartmentally. Ensuring adequate and timely information flow.
- Excitement to meet growing demands and perform other duties as needed and assigned.

What You Should Have:
- 3+ years experience in a leadership role in a high-speed beverage packaging environment.
- Experience with all canning, bottling and keg filling equipment a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting/repairing mechanical and electrical problems is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills and management experience.
- Previous experience with scheduling, planning, staffing, and coordinating production.
- Pallet jack and forklift operating experience in manufacturing environment.
- Ability to express oneself in both written and verbal communication.
- Proficient with MS office suite of software, primarily excel, and word.
- A valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record required.
- A “no job is too small” attitude.
Working Conditions:
- Capable of standing for long periods of time and to perform physically demanding work.
- May need to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Capable of safe and competent work on and around potentially hazardous machinery and chemicals, and wet environments.
- Work in an environment with high noise levels.
- May need to come in on weekends and/or weeknights.
