Catawba Brewing Company is looking to add a shift brewer to our Morganton NC location. We have a 30 BBL brewhouse turning 20 brews per week. The position will be mostly 3rd shift and require the flexibility of weekends and holidays. We are a 18 year old company with 2 other brewing. One in Asheville, NC and one in Charlotte, NC. Morganton NC is a small mountain town at the entrance to Linville Gorge which offers world class hiking, rock climbing and whitewater paddling. Ideal candidate would have 3 years professional experience working in a shift brewing environment and a brewing education. However, work ethic, the ability to learn quickly, work without supervision and be flexible are more important and we are willing to train the right candidate. Produces quality wort according to Catawba Brewing specifications including, but not limited to, target gravity, IBU, color, and volume
* Keeps brewhouse vessels clean inside and out
* Maintains a safe, clean, and organized workspace
* Communicates all pertinent batch related information at shift changeover
* Cleans and sanitizes tanks, hoses, and fittings
* Sets up hoses and fittings for the day’s brew
* Collects yeast for pitching and alerts cellar person when to drop yeast
* Tracks yeast availability and viability to determine best potential pitch sources
* Receives raw materials, rotates stock, and takes inventories
* Alerts Head Brewer when inventory levels are below par levels
* Monitors and records batch performance
* Monitors raw material quality and performance
* Completes required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
* Follows safety procedures and wears PPE
* Performs other duties as assigned
