Position: Head Brewer
Location: India
We are an established craft brewery in India and pride ourselves on the hard work we put in to ensuring quality, consistency and hygiene throughout the brewing process.
We are presently looking for a candidate to take over the responsibilities of our Head Brewer, who will be returning to Europe after spending three years with us. While a large part of his involvement was in setup, commissioning and our initial foray into the market, the new Head Brewer will be responsible for not only maintaining the standards set by his predecessor, but also to lend his experience and passion to continue to raise the bar while:
Increasing throughput
Improving efficiency
Developing new recipes
Working to improve existing processes where necessary
Reviewing/Implementing SOPs across the brewery
Reviewing/Implementing QC/QA processes
Training brewery staff (assistant brewers, operators etc)
Experience
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-10 years experience (in leadership roles) working in a challenging and intense environment, both at small-to-medium and large breweries. We are not necessarily looking for “big brewery” experience, however, the brewer should be familiar with both manual and PLC-operated equipment, including: Brewhouses, centrifuges, lenticular & cartridge filters, flash pasteurisers, double pre-evac fillers and keg washing/filling equipment.
Experience with yeast propagation, yeast management across generations, cropping techniques and microbiology (plating) is required, and in some cases systems will need to be developed from scratch. The candidate should also have some experience with equipment selection and overseeing expansion as that will be a large part of what we will look to achieve in the next two years.
The candidate should also be familiar with some of the challenges encountered in hot, tropical climates and how to tackle them.
Compensation
Compensation will be competitive and in line with international levels and can be discussed further with candidates who are interested in the position, along with other benefits.
While we are ideally looking for someone to be part of our growth story over the years, we are also open to candidates who would like to benefit from the experience of working in India for 2-3 years.
Start date
Preferrably in November or beginning December (negotiable)
