CELLARMAN/ASSISTANT BREWER
Backward Flag Brewing is a quickly growing Veteran owned and operated brewery in Forked River, NJ. We are now interviewing for the position of Cellarman/Assistant Brewer. This position requires approximately 20-30 hours of work. Hours are based on a dynamic schedule that includes some nights and weekends. This is an Entry Level position. All tasks of this position will be under the guidance of the Head Brewer and Production Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Transfer of wort and beer.
• Packaging into Kegs, Cans and Bottles.
• CIP of all brewery tanks.
• Yeast management, to include harvest, pitching, propagation.
• Monitoring active fermentation.
• Dry hopping
• Strict record-keeping
• Ensuring a clean and sanitary working environment.
• Read and interpret production recipes
• Prepare for brewing operations
• Assist in brewing operations as needed.
Must be able to:
• Lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs with assistance of a hand truck
• Climb up/down a ladder
• Stand for up to 8 hours per day
• Work in a non-temperature controlled environment
• Maintain a flexible schedule
• Complete all tasks as scheduled
Other requirements:
• 21 years of age
• Willingness to work outside of hired position.
• Knowledge and/or passion for craft beer and brewing or willingness to be trained and learn
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
