    Brewer / Cellarman - Sleeping Giant Brewing Company - Denver, CO

    Sleeping Giant Brewing Company is seeking a full-time Brewer/Cellarman. After launching in January 2015, we have enjoyed tremendous growth as the first dedicated contract brewery in the Western United States. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an aggressively growing start up.

    1+ year experience in a production brewery with multiple shifts is required, while a Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Chemistry/Food Science/Engineering, or certification by IBD, Siebel, etc. is desirable. Our culture is paramount to our success and we require contributing members of the team in this fun, family oriented environment. This is a ground-up organization with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity. We are two years into our start-up, and will to produce over 40,000BBL this year. We are looking for long term team members, and meaningful advancement opportunities will be available as we undergo a cellar expansion.

    Compensation is competitive and benefits (health, dental, LTD, life) are available to all employees. PTO, a quarterly incentive plan, and equity plans round out our compensation package.

    The first and only dedicated contract brewery West of the Mississippi. Located in central Denver along Interstate 25, we are not only an excellent option for the Rocky Mountain region but for all of the West Coast, Pacific Northwest, and Southwest/Texas as the closest contract brewery. Furthermore, our location affords a strategic geographical advantage to Eastern/Midwestern/Southern brands currently distributing or looking to expand distribution to the West.


    Desired skills include, but are not limited to:

    • Grain, hops, and yeast handling, receipt, and storage

    • Brewhouse management from mash-in to cold wort production

    • Fermentation, Yeast Pitching, and dry hopping/tank additions

    • Centrifuge, Sheet filtration and in-line carbonation operations

    • Experience with Quality at Source and brewery analytical instrumentation – pH meters, hemocytometers, microscopes, etc. required

    • Anton Parr CBoxQC At line operation or similar for DO/CO2 measurements (Gehaltemeter, Hamilton, etc.)

    • Anton Parr Alcolyzer/DMA and spectrophotometer experience preferred

    • Follow a Quality-at-Source Sample Plan

    • Follow the Brewing and Packaging Production Plan and anticipate work load

    • Follow the Master Sanitation Schedule and perform CIP/SIP and associated chemical handling, titrations, and documentation

    • Experience with Autonomous Maintenance of pump, gearboxes, and hydraulics preferred (correct, inspect, lubricate, quick fix, adjustments).

    • Follow a Safe Plan of Action and Perform LOTOTO for non-standard work

    • Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles

    • Work in a Flexible Team Environment, including monthly days/swing rotations and daily shift meetings

    • Understanding of GMP

    • Participate in Sensory Program as needed

    • Excellent written and oral communication

    • Participation in development of SOPs and job-aids

    • Ability to communicate with the entire brewery team

    • Proficiency in MS Office required; Orchestrated Beer proficiency preferred

    • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs

    • Skilled Trades (mechanical) experience is a plus

    • Forklift operation, certification preferred

    • Ability to grow into new roles in the company
