  • Draft line cleaning for kegs linked in series

The Draught Quality Manual has a helpful section on page 48 on linking legs in a series for beers that sell quickly.

It also has a section on line cleaning. But nothing on cleaning lines when you have kegs linked in a series, which uses the gas line to transport beer from one keg to the next.

Anyone come up with an elegant solution?

It's a standard solution: Use serial cleaning cups. These replace the keg on the coupler of the second, flow-through keg. Get them from your draught equipment supplier.

One thing to note when you get the serial cups: Unlike the double-flusher that connects two keg couplers, the serial cup needs to have the coupler handle in the down (open) position.

If you can get your pub staff trained to check the series kegs every morning, and be sure there is always a full keg on the serving end--the one that connects to the tap--you can usually go an entire busy day without swapping kegs. Just be sure that the full keg is the serving keg. Push with a partial, serve from the full one.
