  • Biofine vs Dry-hops

Has anyone else found they are getting clear beer but with bits of dry hops using Biofine Clear?

Biofine doesn't work on dry hops. You need to make sure that you aren't racking over tons of hops material from the FV to the brite. We do not experience any problems with it, but we are vigilant about minimizing how much green material gets transferred over.

Yes - I talked to BSG and they said Biofine doesn't have the pos/neg interaction with hops. A physical separation method is needed.

We do fantastically with regular settling times. The trick is to make sure you are reducing the amount of sludge each time you transfer. It doesn't do you any good to rack over everything to the brite if you don't have the thinnest layer possible of crap at the bottom. Hops also work well to promote settling of yeast, so if crashed properly the hops can reduce your biofine needs in the brite. Like I said before, its all about settling time and managing how much sludge you rack over. We have never had hops debris in our kegs, and our time in brite is only 2-3 days at most, total time from start to finish is under 14 days.
