Gate City Brewing Company is growing and looking for a lead cellar technician to join our team.
About us:
Gate City Brewing Company is located in the heart of historic Roswell, GA just north of Atlanta. Gate City has established itself as one of the up and coming breweries in Atlanta’s growing craft beer scene. Gate City gained acclaim for its killer taproom boasting 20 taps and a great vibe in one of Atlanta’s hottest suburbs. Currently producing 2000+ barrels per year and growing, Gate City operates a 30-bbl brew house for production and a 7-bbl brew house for internal taproom needs.
Position:
Gate City is looking for a qualified lead cellar technician to oversee and maintain all cellaring and cold side operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring cellar readiness to receive wort, moving product through the fermentation process and packaging. Attention to detail, cleanliness and the ability to follow detailed directions are critical in this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each phase of fermentation, clarification, carbonation and packaging including:
o Clean and Sanitize all cellar equipment and work areas including tanks, hoses, brinks and kegs
o Monitor all aspects of fermentation (gravities, dry hopping, temperatures, ph, cell counts, etc.)
o Daily use of computer inventory software (Ekos) to ensure accurate record keeping and raw material availability
o Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
o Assist with canning line operation and maintenance as needed
o Keg Washing/Filling
o Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 1+ year of cellar experience in a packaging brewery
- Fermentation Science Degree or similar preferred
- Computer and Math proficiency
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
- Comprehensive knowledge of the brewing process
- Must be highly focused and obsessive about cleanliness and sanitation
- Must possess strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in a production brewing environment and one may be exposed to temperature changes, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibrations and other hazards related to production brewing
- This is a labor intensive and highly physical position. Must be able to bend over, twist, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, stand for the duration of a shift, lift 55+ pounds repeatedly, occasionally lift objects up to 165 pounds and rarely over 165 pounds.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
