    JOB SUMMARY:
    Under the direction of the Brewmaster, the Head Brewer is responsible for overseeing efficient execution of all brewery operations at the Green Flash Brewery in Nebraska. This includes management of all the internal and external resources necessary to meet production plans for packaged beer. Additionally, the Head Brewer is responsible for the safety, development, training and growth of the production staff as well as continually driving efforts to improve efficiency, benchmarking competition and always striving to acquire new insights for making great beer.

    The key performance indicators for this position are: product quality, on-time delivery of packaged beer, capacity utilization, turnover & accuracy of raw material inventory and cost of goods sold.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Perform all brewing and packaging functions as needed
    • Recruit, hire, train, motivate and manage all brewery production personnel
    • Manage all brewery operations including brewhouse, cellar and packaging
    • Achieve production plans
    • Plan and acquire all materials required to produce and package beer
    • Maintain accurate inventory of all materials
    • Schedule personnel as necessary to meet production requirements
    • Assure all beer produced consistently meets high quality standards
    • Meet cost targets for all beers produced
    • Keep departmental spending at or below budget
    • Perform and schedule maintenance and repairs to minimize brewery down time
    • Ensure a safe work environment and provide safety training
    • Ensure continued compliance with local and federal regulations
    • Administer training program for all production employees (including safety training)
    • Develop, maintain and enforce standard working procedures
    • Maintain a clean, safe and well organized facility
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    • BS degree and/or certification from an accredited Brewing Training Institution
    • 5+ years of experience in a packaging brewery
    • 2+ years of management experience in a production brewery
    • Extensive knowledge of beer production, storage and packaging
    • Proven recipe design experience for production scale beers
    • Proven mechanical/electronics experience with beer production machinery
    • Project management and equipment installation experience
    • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent record keeping, attention to detail and communication skills
    • Enthusiasm and strong personal knowledge of the craft beer industry
    • Ability to lead but also work effectively as part of a cross-functional team
    • Ability to multi-task and be flexible
    • Experience with ERP systems
    • Thorough knowledge of MS Office

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours at a time
    • Ability to regularly lift or push up to 75 lbs.
    • Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 170 pounds

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Employee frequently works in a brewery environment with a moderate amount of noise and activity. The work environment is fast-paced and demanding.
