    REPORTS TO: Head Brewer
    SUPERVISES: All Packaging Operators
    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

    JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Head Brewer, the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing efficient execution of all packaging operations. This includes effective management and scheduling of all Operators. Further, the Packaging Supervisor will maintain inventory of raw materials, filter media, and all supplies related to fermentation, filtration, quality control, and proper conditioning of all beer at Green Flash Brewery. The Packaging Supervisor ensures the highest quality and consistency through oversight of bottling operations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Interview, hire, train, motivate and supervise all packaging personnel
    • Maintain the highest possible quality for all beer produced by establishing and overseeing all QA/QC efforts
    • Plan the packaging schedule based on brewing operations
    • Maintain complete and accurate brewery records and provide inputs for Brewer’s Report, tax determination, and alcohol compliance
    • Write and maintain SOP’s for all packaging operations and train personnel
    • Ensure a safe work environment and provide safety training
    • Schedule personnel to fulfill packaging operations
    • Recommend operational business improvements to management
    • Schedule and execute maintenance and repairs to minimize brewery down time
    • Train junior production employees (including safety training)
    • Order raw materials, supplies and chemicals required to bottle beer
    • Maintain a clean, safe and well organized facility
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    • A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in related discipline and/or certification or graduation from an accredited Brewer Training Institution.
    • Completed apprenticeship in brewery setting
    • 5+ years progressive industry related experience
    • A minimum of one year of experience providing work direction or supervising cellar personnel in a packaging brewery
    • Strong communications skills
    • Ability to manage, train, and motivate production staff
    • Proven mechanical aptitude
    • Knowledge of beer production, storage and packaging
    • Excellent attention to detail and record keeping skills
    • Enthusiasm and strong personal knowledge of the microbrewery industry and market
    • Thorough knowledge of MS Office
    • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
    • Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization
    • Ability to multi-task and be flexible
    • Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 170 pounds
    • Forklift certified

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • While performing the duties the employee is:
    o constantly required to reach computers and other office and machinery
    o constantly required to view objects at close and distant ranges
    o constantly required to communicate with others
    o frequently required to sit
    o frequently required to stand
    o frequently required to use fine manipulation and simple grasping in order to handle production equipment and to utilize the computer and other standard office equipment such as telephone, fax machines, copiers, etc.
    o occasionally required to use taste and smell senses
    o occasionally required to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs
    o occasionally required to lift and transport items weighing up to 170 lbs

    • Equipment typically used: Computers, brewery production equipment, bottling line equipment.

    Note: For the purpose of this summary, occasionally is used to represent up to 1/3 of the time given to the work day, frequently represents 1/3 to 2/3 of the time and constantly represents 2/3 or more of the time.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Employee frequently works in a brewery environment with a moderate amount of noise and activity. The work environment is fast-paced and demanding.
