    JOB SUMMARY
    The Maintenance Technician I (Brewery Engineer) position requires a self-motivated, responsible and proactive professional with experience in a production or manufacturing environment. The Upslope Brewery Engineering Team focuses primarily on the mechanical aspects of production, but overlaps with every department at multiple production facilities. This full time position involves maintaining, upgrading or servicing all of the mechanical equipment and facilities in a regional craft brewery. Candidates should share Upslope Brewing Company’s core values of quality, ethics, safety, sustainability and innovation.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Maintain, repair, upgrade and perform preventative maintenance on most of the equipment in the brewery or contact and coordinate with the appropriate technician or contractors for specific work.
    • Work closely with other departments in a team environment to accomplish the primary goal of producing quality beer. Cross-train with other production departments to become familiar with processes and equipment.
    • Maintain and keep inventory of manuals and spare parts for all the mechanical and electrical equipment in the company including keeping tools organized and accessible.
    • Create orders, solicit bids for competitive pricing, shop for, and pick up spare parts, equipment, repairs, etc.
    • Use of CMMS system for tracking and maintenance record-keeping.
    • Work with outside designers, engineers, contractors, architects and city officials in a confident and professional manner as necessary for to obtain bids and permitting for large projects.
    • Keep an organized list of the specific contractors and suppliers, etc in order to contact them efficiently. Maintain relationships with suppliers to facilitate ordering and stocking of parts and materials
    • Ensure the use of all the safety gear equipment and safety protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Proactively identify machinery in need of maintenance or mechanical issues that could result in a potential production shutdown and delay the production schedule.
    • Periodic training and learning in the use of the tools and equipment as well having the knowledge of the operation of all equipment in the brewery and maintain knowledge of the functionality of the entire brewery.
    Work time:
    • Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. . Some level of flexibility is required to work occasional evening, weekend, night or on-call shifts as necessary to meet the company’s goals.

    REQUIREMENTS
    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field preferred.
    • Experience: 2 years experience in a production brewery or related manufacturing facility strongly preferred.
    • Experience in machinery maintenance, welding, pneumatics, automation programming, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, procurement, general contracting, facilities management and/or materials fabrication are highly desired.
    • Required skills: Strong general mechanical aptitude. Experience with power tools and machinery. Ability to work both independently and closely with a team. Strong Verbal and Written communication skills.
    • Ability to safely operate vehicle, machinery and various tools
    • Ability to successfully complete background/MVR check.
    • Must be 21 years or older.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: Able to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs. Able to safely manipulate all tools and machinery necessary for the position. Able to read and follow written English instructions. Must be able to regularly lift/carry 55 pound bags above waist level and periodically lift/move items weighing up to 150 pounds. Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot and comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    The work environment will vary daily for this position given the nature of the job duties. Employee will most likely spend ample time in a noisy, busy and rapidly changing work environment. The production side of brewing has potential job hazards such as chemicals, moving machinery, trip hazards, electricity and compressed gasses that require the candidate to be aware of surroundings and safety procedures at all times.
