East Brother Beer Company is a new brewery located in Richmond, CA. We produce lagers and ales, with a focus on clean and timeless styles and recipes. We can and/or keg every batch for distribution or for serving in our on-site taproom. We are currently expanding our cellar, and are seeking a brewer to perform all aspects of production.
About the Job
The Brewer’s primary responsibility is wort production/brewing, with the ideal candidate able to manage any task in the brewery on their own, including cleaning/sanitizing vessels, filtering batches, yeast management, dry-hopping, assistance in canning runs and general cleaning/organizing of the brewery. This position reports directly to the Owner/Director of Brewing Operations, and is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, with wages based on experience and knowledge. Hours will be dayshift M-F, with the occasional evening shift or random tasks on weekends (checking gravities, dry-hopping or attending brew fests).
Ideal Qualifications
Must be 21 years or older
Must be able to stand on your feet for 8 hours at a time or longer
Be able to lift 55# sacks of grain and move 165# kegs safely
Willing to work in a hot, noisy, wet environment with exposure to potentially dangerous chemicals
Must be able to keep legible records, be detail oriented, and have the ability to strictly follow S.O.P.s (Standard Operating Procedures)
Self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong mechanical skills and facility working with hand and power tools a must
Preferred candidates will have previous experience working in a production plant, brewery or extensive home brewing experience. An education in a chemistry or biology-related field is also appreciated.
