Full Time Brewer/Assistant Brewer for SoMe Brewing Company in York, Maine.
Position: Full Time Brewer/Assistant Brewer. SoMe is expanding and we are looking to hire the right person to work with us. That person may be an experienced brewer or a passionate cellar worker looking to move up to a brewing position. We are open and willing to give the right person the chance. The position is responsible for working with our team to produce beer of the highest quality consistently.
This position requires 40+ hours weekly. The position includes a work schedule that is dependent upon the operational needs of the brewery, including but not limited to 12 hour days, second shifts, and weekend work.
Experience: Preference given to candidates who have 2+ years working in a brewery, experience handling yeast, and working on a Canning/Bottling line.
Candidates should be:
Experienced with foundational knowledge of brew process from ingredient prep to packaging and warehousing
Able to work on their feet for a whole shift
Able to lift 55 lb bags of grain
Capable of following verbal and written SOPs
Able to move full kegs safely with a hand truck
Able to move heavy pallets with a pallet jack
Familiar with working around forklifts (fork driving experience not required)
Comfortable working in an unairconditioned brewery
Able to work safely with strong chemicals
Familiar with sanitization practices
Capable of strict attention to detail
Very knowledgable of process, as well as good mechanical/electrical aptitude.
Able to work with high quality standards with or without direct supervision.
Able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
Available to work some early mornings, swing shifts, and weekends
Able to safely operate a motor vehicle
Ready to learn about the brewery and brand
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Brewing, tracking inventory, assisting in planning Brew Schedule and Cellar/Packaging schedule, Filling kegs, cleaning/sanitizing tanks, organizing and cleaning the brewery, yeast harvesting, prepping for brew-days, working on the canning line, assisting other team members with day to day tasks, local deliveries, and other tasks as assigned.
Pay: Pay negotiable based on experience.
