    Kern River Brewing Company was established in Kernville in 2005. Currently operating two adjacent brewpubs with 7 bbl and 20 bbl brew houses. Kernville is located at the southern edge of Sequoia National forest and is known as a place of adventure, offering a wide variety of outdoor activities. On any given day, the outdoor enthusiast enjoys activities ranging from the excitement of whitewater rafting, kayaking, downhill skiing, horseback riding, windsurfing, water-skiing, mountain biking and climbing. If a more relaxing day is preferred, people can enjoy fishing, hiking, camping, sailing, antiquing, and bird watching or simply kicking back at the brewery and taking in the spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

    Job Description

    The goal of this position is to ensure Kern River Brewing Company’s facilities are well-cared for and function properly to support the company's business operations. *This position is responsible for all installation, repair and upkeep of the company’s buildings, equipment, machinery, HVAC, lighting, grounds and overall facility appearance. In addition, the facility maintenance manager must provide an efficient and safe working environment for employees and use the best business practices to manage resources, services and processes to meet the needs of the company according to budget.

    Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
    • Maintenance and repair of facilities, buildings, equipment, machinery and grounds.
    • Help develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements.
    • Facility refurbishment and renovations projects.
    • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections.
    • Implement best practice processes to increase efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes.
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
    • Obtain quotes and tenders from vendors and suppliers.
    • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
    • Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to maximize cost-effectiveness.
    • Coordinate and monitor activities of contracted suppliers.
    • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met.
    • Check completed work by contractors and vendors.
    • Verify payment and invoicing match contract pricing.
    • Retain written approval from the Board on budgets for all projects and service bids.
    • Communicate directly with the board on the status of equipment and negotiations on potential new purchases/fixes.
    • Help with brewery packaging, shipping and receiving when needed.
    • Provide prompt response to requests and issues from facility occupants.
    • Deal efficiently and economically with emergency/unscheduled repairs.
    • Willing to participate in job relevant educational opportunities upon Board’s request (paid for by KRBC).
    • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.


    Required Core Skills
    • Solid understanding of technical aspects of Plumbing, Carpentry, Mechanical and Electrical systems
    • Communicating effectively in written and oral form
    • Exceptional prioritizing, multitasking and troubleshooting skills
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills
    • Understanding of blueprints
    • Ability estimate time and cost of projects

    Experience
    • Four years related experience and /or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Physical Demands
    • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
    • Frequently lift or move items over 50lbs.
    • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts. *The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme outside weather conditions.

    Position Type and Expected hours of Work
    • This is a full-time position. *A normal workweek will be between 40-50 hours Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm. *Evenings, weekends and additional hour workweeks may be required as job duties demand.
