    We are looking for an advanced Brewer with a strong background in production brewery operations. If you are brewhouse expert looking to help teach and lead a team while growing your career with a fun and exciting company, we want to hear from you!

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Brewer is Fort Point Beer Company’s most advanced general role in the Production department. It is designed for employees with a strong foundation of production brewery experience and brewery operation knowledge. It involves working independently and in a team environment to execute advanced procedures on the production floor involving multiple steps and to train and supervise other employees doing the same tasks. This position offers the opportunity to learn and develop management skills on the job and grow professionally

    PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Independently produce wort on four-vessel brewhouse - responsible for all steps from grain milling to yeast pitching
    • Independently clean, sanitize and operate centrifuge
    • Ensure that all products meet required quality control points through proper technique and measurement
    • Assist in training other brewery technicians in relevant cellar and brewhouse skills



    SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Also expected to fulfill Brewery Technician 1,2, and 3 essential duties as required
    • Yeast harvesting and storage
    • Independently run CIP (clean-in-place) and sanitizing cycles on fermentation vessels and bright tanks
    • Regularly clean tank and equipment exteriors
    • Perform scheduled maintenance on fermentation vessels, bright tanks, pumps, hoses, and lab equipment
    • Complete daily cellar reports - measurements include but are not limited to: specific gravity, pH, cell count, CO2/O2 levels, temperature, diacetyl
    • Dry hop tanks
    • Perform and record daily yeast and hop drops from fermentation vessels
    • Monitor carbonation and clarity of bright beer
    • Assemble and fill six-pack boxes and cases by hand
    • Safely palletize, wrap, label, and organize packaged beer
    • Assist in canning line setup and breakdown - including sanitize in place, clean in place, and clean out of place procedures
    • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
    • Assist with canning line maintenance and repair under the direction of the Packaging Manager
    • Keg cleaning and sanitizing on a semi-automated machine
    • General cleaning of horizontal and vertical surfaces
    • Rotate through periodic night warehousing shifts
    • Assist Warehouse Lead with picking kegs and cases for delivery routes and loading trucks
    • Package bright beer into kegs
    • Assist with other brewery tasks as needed




    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

    • Google Sheets/Excel
    • 3+ years work experience in beer/wine production or equivalent education
    • Operate forklift, scissor lift and manual and powered pallet jack
    • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application




    REQUIRED SKILLS:
    • Able to follow oral and written instructions
    • Able to lift, bend, and move repetitively
    • Able to stand for long periods of time
    • Ability to safely lift at least 50 lbs and be able to push/pull up to 5000 lbs using a pallet jack




    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED:
    • High school diploma or equivalent

    EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
    • Shifts are 8 hours each with occasional overtime required
    • A variety of shifts exist for the Brewery Technician II position including some nights and weekends




    EQUIPMENT OPERATION/SKILLS:
    • Operate forklift, scissor lift and manual and powered pallet jack
    • Centrifugal pump
    • Density meter, pH meter, microscope, and general lab equipment
    • Centrifuge
    • Brewhouse - Mash mixer, lauter tun, kettle, whirlpool
