    Highlander Beer, in Missoula, MT is looking to hire a Taproom Manager for our growing retail location.

    Position: Tap Room Manager
    Accountable to: Guests, Ownership, General Manager, Kitchen Manager, Staff & Vendors
    Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating and overseeing Tap Room operations. Supports and contributes to all areas of business.

    General
    • Maintain a positive representation of Highlander Beer. at all times; responsible and accountable at all times for operating in the best interest of Highlander Beer.
    • Facilitate a positive work environment through communication, enthusiasm, and support.
    • Be respectful in your communication with guests, managers & team members - follow proper channels for voicing concerns.
    • Understand that we are a performance-based operation. Weekly schedules are based on each individual’s ability, attitude, and availability. Growth opportunities are based on performance, dependability, and flexibility.

    Hospitality
    • Ensure the quality of each guest’s experience by fostering a work environment focused on timely, accurate, knowledgeable, and engaging customer service.
    • Investigate and resolve guest service complaints positively; honor any reasonable request. If you are unable to resolve the situation, obtain contact information so that General Manager may contact the guest.
    • Maintain lighting, music, and appearance of the kitchen and taproom area to the standards of Missoula Brewing Company.
    • Develop and establish community outreach programs to support local non-profits.
    • Continue live music program to feature local musicians, by booking music and promoting
    • Establish contacts with businesses in our “backyard”
    • Assist in social media efforts
    • Help develop, coordinate and execute revenue driving events
    • Manage customer reservations and customer events

    Staff
    • Maintain open, honest channels of communication. Clearly communicate performance expectations, provide coaching to achieve goals and reinforce positive workplace behaviors while disciplining staff when needed.
    • Observe all personnel for compliance with product, hospitality, and appearance standards.
    • Accountable for new hire orientation and training, ongoing development of staff and completion of scheduled reviews.
    • Promote and maintain a positive staff culture that focuses on providing the best possible customer experience
    • Responsible for ensuring staff members are experts on our products, events, promotions

    Product
    • Promote the beer menu; educate staff and guests as to the styles and flavor profiles of our beers.
    • Promote the pizza menu; educate staff and guests as to the authenticity of the recipes and the freshness of the ingredients.
    • Monitor sanitation and food handling practices and ensure staff compliance with established standards. Maintain ServSafe certification at all times.
    • Develop, adhere to and enforce expectations for service standards.

    Operations
    • Maintain Tap Room operations at a high level of productivity while meeting expectations for cost controls, including labor and product waste concerns.
    • Safeguard all assets including cash, equipment and inventory.
    • Supervise service operations; assist bar, counter and kitchen staff during peak periods to ensure efficiency and hospitality goals.
    • Ensure a safe guest and work environment; promptly report any accidents or hazardous situations to General Manager.
    • Uphold standards for sanitation and cleanliness.
    • Maintain a regular schedule of preventative maintenance for Tap Room equipment; promptly report any maintenance concerns.
    • Create and post staff schedules balancing concerns for hospitality expectations, labor goals, and employee performance.
    • Complete administrative tasks necessary to monitor labor costs and other costs
    • Schedule Tap Room personnel
    • Responsible for all taproom inventory, ensuring there are adequate supplies to service customers
    • Maintain and update POS terminals
    • Interact with Guests to ensure we are providing the best possible experience
    • Willing to take an active role in growth projects, and be an active team player in the long-term goals of the business.

    Qualifications:
    • Must be able to positively influence others, building a positive work environment and positive guest experiences through sociability, enthusiasm, and assertiveness.
    • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to tactfully and respectfully address staff and guest concerns.
    • Must be able to multitask and prioritize.
    • Must be able to assess situations quickly and objectively, resolving issues in the best interest of Highlander Beer.
    • Must have good computer skills
    • Must have management experience
    • Must have significant experience in customer service and hospitality
    • Experience managing and executing large events/ reservations a plus


    Work Environment: The employee must be able to work in an environment that is fast paced with moderate to high noise levels. Exposure to hot and cold products as well as chemicals common to the industry. The position involves constant standing and bending, occasionally lifting/moving up to 80 pounds. Regular activities require quick movement and repetitive motions.
