Position: Operations Manager - Harpoon Distributing Company (HDC)

Position Summary:
The Harpoon Distributing Company Operations Manager (OM) leads a multifunctional organization executing numerous, detailed tasks on a daily basis in Mass Bay Brewing Company’s (MBBC) flagship market territory. As such, the OM works hand-in-hand with the HDC Sales Team and senior managers across the company. HDC’s customer service is a key competitive advantage and drives overall business performance.
Specifically, the OM manages an organization responsible for all the operational activities related to the sale, order fulfillment, customer service, and accounts receivable of the Harpoon Distributing Company (HDC). HDC Operations Team provides daily beer delivery and merchandising service to approximately 1,400 retail accounts in a territory encompassing 30 municipalities in the metro Boston area. Success is measured by both quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback.

Job Duties:
Supervise a team of approximately 18 employees in the areas of Administration, Delivery Drivers, and Warehousing
Educate and direct each employee on the proper execution of their responsibilities
Ensure daily tasks are completed according to established SOPs
On-going performance assessment as well as periodic performance reviews and development plans
Create objectives on a trimester basis, coach for successful execution, and evaluate/provide feedback on performance
Manage and maintain weekly KPI’s
Calculate and manage payroll
Recruit staff as appropriate
Operations and Logistics
Routing of HDC delivery trucks
Order picking and warehouse management
Inventory management: forecasting, ordering, daily count, monthly close
Oversite of deliveries: daily loading, retailer stops, unloading trucks
Customer Service and Administration
Order Processing, utilizing ERP system
Delivery and invoicing of sales orders to area retail accounts
Ensuring orders are properly converted into Accounts Receivable
Manage the collection of receivables
Provide customer service and A/R support to area retail accounts
Prepare annual Capital Expenditures budget
Manage HDC’s truck fleet/equipment and DOT compliance
Manage DOT compliance and drug pool for HDC delivery drivers
Other routine regulatory filing and compliance
Other
Special projects as appropriate
Close coordination and daily interaction with HDC Sales Team
On-going collaboration with MBBC senior managers across all functional areas (Production, IT, Finance, HR, Sales)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of distribution/wholesale operational activities
Ability to prepare and maintain detailed, accurate records
Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
Very strong interpersonal and communications skills
Established competency with
ERP systems: Order entry, DSD, A/R, Forecasting and Inventory Modules
Excel and other reporting tools

budgets
A “roll-up your sleeves and dig in” attitude
Genuine enthusiasm for craft beer
Education and Experience:
BA in Business/Supply Chain Management preferred and/or relevant work experienced
Minimum 3 years of Operations Management a plus
Five to seven years’ experience in an operating environment, preferably DSD distribution and logistics
Experience in an MRP system a plus
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Three to five years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience required
